Ink System

AN Environmentally-friendly ink system

At John Mark Ltd we're extremely careful about the inks we choose to use. Our water-based inks are environmentally-friendly and colour-fast.

Latex Ink Technology

We only use HP water based, environmentally kind inks. Our Latex ink is durable, colour fast and capable of being printed on a broad range of Non-Woven Wallpapers, Foil Wallpapers, Natural Wallpapers, and Fabric Wallpapers.

The multiple colour ink system has a much broader colour gamut than CMYK process. This is particularly useful when colour matching to fabrics and other surface prints.

HP latex inks are free from Cadmium, Chromium, Mercury, Lead (tested to >0.2ppm) or Formaldehyde.

Our HP water based environmentally kind inks offer durability to withstand “wear and tear” from the different sources of potential damage to which our luxury wallpapers may be exposed.

white ink technology

John Mark is the first company in the world to receive the latest HP Latex 2700W which has white ink. The white ink works with any ground you print on and is able to mix up metallic basis or natural basis to create something that nobody else is doing, using dark natural grounds, to foils and gold leave, the white ink can be used as a platform (under flood) or as a spot colour. The finishes we are able to achieve are simply spectacular and we’re excited to see what our designer customers can do to push this to the limit.

Scratch and abrasion resistance

Scratch resistance and abrasion resistance refer to the ability of a print to resist damage from different objects with which it comes into contact. This is a relevant consideration during the finishing, shipping, and installation of our luxury wallpapers. Scratch damage refers specifically to damage from sharp or pointed objects—fingernails, for example. This is a very important consideration for high-value luxury wallpapers that will be viewed at short distance since a single scratch can occur in an instant and permanently damage a print. Abrasion (also called dry rub) refers to damage caused by repeated rubbing in the same location. This is an important consideration for our luxury wallpapers that could be exposed to repeated rubbing or scuffing in the same location. Thanks to the the team at HP our inks have an anti-scratch agent in which provides a high level of scratch resistance on smooth, uncoated and coated wallcoverings.

Light-fade resistance

Light-fade resistance, sometimes referred to as lightfastness, is a measure of how well a print resists fading with exposure to light and other environmental factors such as ozone. The colour of an ink comes from its dyes or pigments, and over time these particles will be broken down by UV rays in sunlight, resulting in colours that fade. Prints produced with inks that contain pigments, such as HP Latex Inks, tend to last a lot longer than prints produced with inks that contain dyes only.

Certifications

HP Latex Inks have qualified for certifications that demonstrate they meet some of the world's most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low chemical emissions into indoor air. Meet stringent health and environmental criteria—HP Latex Inks are UL ECOLOGO® certified5, conform to ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List6, and comply with toy safety requirements.
